How far is the closest beach?
The nearest swimming beach to Pleasant Bay Village Resort is just under a third of a mile. It is a small beach on the peaceful waters of Pleasant Bay called Jacknife Beach. This nearby beach has free parking and also offers a quiet river for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. In addition, Chatham is surrounded by water on three sides, so there are also several other beaches within a 10-minute drive.
Can you walk to the closest beach from Pleasant Bay Village Resort?
Although Jacknife Beach is just a short distance away, we do not recommend walking because there are no sidewalks. Since this could be dangerous and there is free parking at the beach, we recommend that you drive.
What other beaches do you recommend in Chatham?
Lighthouse Beach in Chatham is near our hotel and is a beautiful beach for scenery, photography and a quick walk, however parking is limited to half an hour and because of currents, rip tides and sharks, swimming is not recommended. Hardings Beach, Ridgevale Beach, and Cockle Cove Beach are all very nice family beaches to the south on Nantucket Sound.
We also highly recommend experiencing Cape Cod Bay at low tide when the tide can go out up to a mile leaving warm tidepools for discovering beach critters and glimmering white sand bars , it’s beautiful at high tide too. One of the easiest Cape Cod Bay beaches for visitors to enjoy is Skatet Beach.
How far is the closest Atlantic ocean beach?
Lighthouse Beach, where Pleasant Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, is approximately 3.5 miles away. Although very picturesque and scenic, parking is limited to only 30 minutes. If you are looking to spend the day at an ocean beach, we recommend going to Nauset Beach in Orleans.
How far is Nauset Beach in Orleans, and how much is it to park?
Nauset Beach is a stunning, cold-water Atlantic Ocean beach with a large parking lot. The beach is about 15 minutes by car from our hotel, and paid parking is found at the entrace to the beach. During the Summer months, we encourage visitors to get to the beach EARLY, as parking often fills up quickly. Nauset Beach offers both bathrooms and showers.
How far is it to the Chatham Fish Pier?
Visiting the Chatham Fish Pier is a free activity. It is located 2.5 miles from Pleasant Bay Village Resort, offers free public parking, and is a great way to spend part of your day enjoying the breathtaking views Pleasant Bay. You may catch fishing boats unloading their catch after just coming in from a day on the water. Likely, you will find seals floating around hoping for an easy meal, especially when fishing boats are unloading fish. There is also an excellent fish shack, Chatham Pier Fish Market, where you can buy fresh seafood to cook yourself, or they also have a wonderful menu of options for take-out or enjoying on several nearby picnic benches.
Do you have a restaurant?
The hotel offers a restaurant that is open to guests for cooked-to-order take-out breakfast and a seasonal poolside lunch. Hours vary; contact us for specific hours. Guests are welcome to enjoy their meals in their room, cottage, or studio, in the gardens, or poolside.
What is the parking like at the hotel?
Free parking is assigned for each room on the property. Our seven-acre property includes 11 small buildings with guest rooms. Each assigned and numbered parking space is located near your room. We also offer free overflow parking for additional vehicles and large vehicles, including trucks with trailers and boats.
Is there a heated pool and what are the hours?
Our solar-assisted heated outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day thru Columbus Day. The pool area hours are 10am – 9pm to provide peace to the rooms overlooking the pool. Lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas are well spaced for guest comfort. Pool towels are provided by the hotel. In addition to the pool there is a hot tub, ping pong table, shuffleboard court and corn hole tucked into the gardens in the pool area.
Are any rooms on the second floor?
All buildings with guest rooms are single-story buildings. The only two-story building is the main building with the lobby, breakfast room and the owner/management quarters.
Do you have rooms with kitchens?
We offer Cottages and Studios with full kitchens, only the Front Deluxe Efficiencies includes a kitchenettes, all Cottages & Studios include a charcoal grill. All are fully equipped with everything you need to prepare and eat your meals. If you find something is missing, please let us know, we can likely lend it to you from our restaurant.
Do any rooms have refrigerators and coffee makers?
The hotel rooms all include small refrigerators and Keurig Coffee makers. The Cottages and Studios have kitchens with refrigerators and drip coffee makers.
How far are you from the Wequassett Resort?
Pleasant Bay Village Resort is just one mile from the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club. Many guests attending weddings and functions at the resort stay at our hotel.
How far are you from Chatham Bars Inn?
Our hotel is less than three miles from the Chatham Bars Inn property.
How far are you from Eastward Ho Country Club?
We are across the street from Eastward Ho Country Club, about a half mile to the clubhouse.
How far are you from downtown Chatham?
The downtown shopping village of Chatham is just three miles from our property. All parking in the downtown Chatham area is free.
Do we have to pay to go to the beach in Cape Cod?
Every town on Cape Cod sets the parking fee for their town beach parking lots. Parking fees are generally collected between Memorial Day and Labor Day from 9am – 5pm. Almost every town also offers at least one “free beach.” The front desk staff has all the secrets about the free beaches and are happy to share them with you when you are our guest.
What time is check out/check in?
Check-in is any time after 3 pm. If you will be arriving after 11 pm, please contact the front desk (508-945-6061). We will do our best to accommodate early check in requests made BEFORE arrival and ask for your understanding that sometimes this cannot be accomplished because of other guests checking out and our stringent cleaning procedures. Check out is by 11 am.
Is there free Wi-Fi at the hotel?
Yes, free wireless Internet is available all around the property, including in the lobby, pool area, and all guest rooms.
Do you have a gym?
While we do not have a gym, there are a few nearby gyms that offer day passes, Body Strong is just over 3.5 miles from our hotel, Chatham Works is only 2.5 miles from our location. Also there is a great running or walking route across the street from the hotel on Foxhill Road. It is a quiet residential neighborhood with elevated views of Pleasant Bay and Eastward Ho! County club. It’s a 5k run/walk to the end of Strong Island Road and back with a few challenging hills and amazing views.
Do you have tennis courts?
Veteran’s Field, just over 2.5 miles from our hotel and Monomoy Regional Middle School, just a bit over 1.5 miles from our location, both offer public tennis courts in Chatham. Our team of locals can provide more options for you at check in.
Does Pleasant Bay Village Resort allow pets?

Are dogs allowed on the beaches?
Most town beaches do not allow dogs on the beaches between Memorial Day and Labor Day with a couple exceptions. Kents Point, nearby in Orleans and all the National Seashore beaches do allow dogs year-round; they must be leashed.
If you’re visiting the Cape before Memorial weekend and after Labor Day weekend your dog can usually enjoy the beach, however we hope everyone respects the local leash laws and picks up after their pup.
Do the hotel rooms have windows that open?
Every accommodation on the property includes several windows that open. All windows have shades, blinds or wooden shutters for privacy.
How long does it take to drive to Provincetown?
Provincetown (or Ptown as the locals call it) is around 1 hour drive from Pleasant Bay Village Resort. With summer traffic, especially on rainy days, it could take longer. We recommend you give yourself a full day to enjoy the drive and discover things along the way. Our front desk staff are Cape Cod locals and will happily provide recommendations of places to stop along the drive.
How do you get to Nantucket and or Martha’s Vineyard, and do I need to take my car?
You take a ferry or small airplane to get to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard from the Cape. Generally, for a day trip to the islands you don’t need a car. There is excellent public transportation on the islands, as well as many options for livery services, bike, moped, and car rentals.
Nearby in Harwichport , Freedom Ferry offers a seasonal ferry passenger service with a limited number of trips to Nantucket from Harwichport about a 15-minute drive from Pleasant Bay Village Resort.
A 30-minute (or more, depending on the time of year) drive from Pleasant Bay Village Resort to Hyannis is the SteamShip Authority and Hyline Cruises, both companies offer ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket with a larger schedule throughout the day. Both companies offer vehicle transportation, too; however, we do not recommend bringing your car on a day trip to the Islands. The last option is to drive to Falmouth (a little over an hour drive) to take a short boat trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
